I have no problem with having an experienced European striker as a loan back up though the fact we go down this route every bloody season is depressing.
What it does mean is that the money earmarked needs to be spent on a quality (or two) wide player. Urgently

Who Logic - Matri is shit and we shouldn't be wasting our time on a striker who has scored a lot of goals in the top flight in Italy.
Instead lets spunk 15m on Charlie Austin or Jordan Rhodes, they are much better options even though we already have 4 strikers in our squad and neither have accomplished anything near what Matri has done.

Decent signing as a back up striker. More or less scored goals wherever he's been in serie a, including title winning contributions at Juve.
Yes he has had a few clubs but that's they way things are in Italy. He's like a younger Italian Kevin Phillips.

In common with others I've never heard of this bloke. He could be the new Di Canio for all I know. But I doubt it. As a 31 year old who must live in caravan judging by the number of moves he's made in his career, he doesn't fill me with confidence.
The problem is it's yet another stop gap loaner that our owners have a terrible record for bringing in after telling us to watch this space for a new 'star' signing.
I'm not slagging this Italian, just the owners, who continually lie to us in order to fuel our expectations and their ticket sales.
At least the English players that Allardyce brought in were familiar to me and I felt some sort of connection with them. The team is beginning to take on a different look and I can't say I like it.

Never heard of him or seen him play so benefit of the doubt but not exactly the profile of the young, hungry player that is needed.

Fuck me, you get some weird looking careers in the Italian leagues don't you. I've never gotten my head around co-ownership (or why it's materially different to 3rd party ownership, but that's for another day...), and endless spells of loans - I remember looking at Borriello's stats when we signed him and he seemed to have spent his entire career on loan more or less. Matri's Wikipedia page just made my head spin. 'Juventus', 'Return to Milan', 'Return to Juventus', 'Another return to Milan'. Make it stop, someone...
No bearing on his talent of course. Fingers well and truly crossed.
